Never Judge A Book By Its Cover

During his last months in Boston Tyler Seguin was making headlines, just not in a good way. Since being traded to the Dallas Stars it seems Seguin has been trying to improve his image. He deleted his twitter and has tried to stay out of the social media. He started a foundation in Dallas in honor of his close friend Derrek Moseychuk called Seguin’s Stars.

Just recently Seguin hosted the 6^th Annual The Fourth Period (TFP) Charity Golf Classic. Held at the Nobleton Lakes Golf Club, golf enthusiasts, celebs, Seguin, and other NHL players took to the green to raise money for the Derrek Moseychuk Fund. Some NHL players in attendence included, Michael Del Zotto, Alex Galchenyuk, Steve Mason, Alex Pietrangelo, Gregory Campbell, Wayne Simmonds, Ryan Murphy, Nathan Beaulieu, Rich Peverley, Casey Cizikas, Devante Smith-Pelly, Tom Wilson, and Rich Clune.

Of course with Tyler Seguin being involved, expect the unexpected! Seguin posted this video on his instgram after the tournament to thank everyone who participated. Captioned: "Didn't think this would be happening at my first golf tourny. Thank god he was a pro. Awesome day big shoutout to the 150+ people that came #tfpclassic #charity #golf #nhl"

Oh Tyler, just when we think you’re all grown up, you remind us you’re still just a 22-year-old bro. I wouldn’t have it any other way! Hey if the guy can keep producing like he did last season, only missing two games, scoring 37 goals and 47 assists, I say let him do whatever he wants off the ice. Tyler did return to twitter recently too, so we can all go keep track of this goofball again @tseguinofficial. Keep on inspiring our youths Seguin!

Poetic Justice

Well wasn't that ending just a huge 'screw you Peter Chiarelli'. The Bruins lose in a shootout Tuesday night and the goal scorers? Only right that they were Tyler Seguin and Rich Peverley. A lot of people were getting their panties in a not because Seguin put his glove up for fist bumps as he skated past the Bruins bench after going five-hole on Tuukka.

 Seriously? Why is this something to get upset about? Maybe old habits die hard or maybe he was just trying to be an ass, either way I don't even care. This 21 year old kid had been booed, taunted, and heckled all game long and gave the biggest middle finger back to the crowd in the only way acceptable.   

As for Rich Peverley, who actually won the game for Dallas, his goal was more of a 'hey remember me, no hard feelings but wasn't that rich!'. Peverley just snuck a quick wrister right by Tuukka and just like that the game was over.  Poetic justice for the two ex-Bruins. 

Some other aspects of the game Tuesday night:

• I really don't think Loui Eriksson was ready to come back yet
• Riley Smith was playing in beast mode
• I thought Chara was going rip Jamie Benn's face off
• Johhny SMASH Boychuk 
• Marshy was trying so hard to show off in front of his boy
• Who even knows who that Fiddler guy is?

I Said I'm On My Tyler Seguin Sh**

Guess who's back?! 

The lovable, idiotic, goofy, punk-ass, Segsy beast is back in town Tuesday night and I bet no one is more excited than Brad Marchand! The duo will finally be reunited in tomorrow night’s game and I personally am looking forward to see how they interact with each other being on separate teams. Seguin was always very entertaining to watch, whether he was flying across the blue line with his lightning speed or waiting to tap in a flying puck from Marchand from behind the net after warm-ups. He always had such charisma in his game I truly miss him.

I guess adjusting to Dallas is easier said than done for Seguin. The Stars have him centering Jamie Benn on his left and Valeri Nichushkin on his right. After going 1-14 in 40 minutes on face-offs, head coach Lindy Ruff gave up and had Jamie Benn take the rest of the draws that night. Ruff later said to Seguin, “You’re going to have to get lower, You’re going to have to get stronger. You’re going to have to get kicked out a couple of times. It’s a one-on-one compete. It’s a form of competing. Get mad. Get mad. You watch Eakin go into the face-off circle. He’ll only get a foot off the ice. He’s bound and determined. You’ve got to look like that every time, especially when you’re having a tough night.” Ruff certainly seems to be struggling with Seguin adjusting to the new team just as much as him. 

In 14 games, Seguin has 6 goals and 9 assists with an average of 20 minutes of ice time. Although he is struggling readjusting back to center, Seguin is tied for 14th in the league with 15 points. It's still early to tell and I'm sure he'll find his groove in Dallas, but it's clear that he misses Boston and who can blame him. “It’s a good feeling when I come here. I know I’m not a part of Boston anymore, but it’s always going to be a part of me and I’m still going to visit in the summers all the time. So it’s still nice to be here again”, Seguin said Monday at practice. Aw Segs stop before you make me cry! 

Let's not forget about the other former Bruin returning Tuesday as well, Rich Perverley. 

Peverley also had a wild summer, but not just because of the trade. Prior to the start of the 2013-14 NHL season Peverley underwent a procedure to correct an irregular heartbeat. He missed all of training camp with his new team and the first game of the regular season. He is healthy now and getting back in the swing of things. In 13 games, Peverley has 2 goals and 5 assists with an average of 17 minutes of ice time.  Players that don't want to leave Boston are going to be the death of me. “We’ll be forever linked that way,” Peverley said of his teammates from that 2011 run. “Some of my best friends are over there, so it’s good to see them.” It's good to have them back in the city and I can't wait to hear the welcome they get from the crowd tomorrow!
