4 For You Chiarelli

Well, well, well, look who we've got for four more years! The man, the myth, the mastermind, MISTER Peter Chiarelli! Earlier today Bruins President Cam Neely announced that the Bruins organization signed Chiarelli for four more years as the General Manager, extending his stay into the 2017-18 season. Chia-Pet aka Chiarelli has been with the Bruins now for seven years. Like him or not you can't deny that his trade moves were genius the 2010-11 season.

In his seven years with the organization, "the Bruins have had five 90-plus point seasons, including three 100+ point campaigns. In the 2008-09 campaign, the Bruins compiled a 53-19-4 record, giving them 116 points on the year, which was good for third-best in team history... His trades, signings and draft selections have helped advance the Bruins to at least the second round of the playoffs in four of the last five seasons." (bostonbruins.com) The Bruins have had seven General Managers since their establishment in 1924 and Chiarelli became the third GM to win a Stanley Cup with the Bruins in 2011, joining the ranks of Art Ross and Milt Schmidt. Impressive eh?

Before coming to Boston, Chiarelli was Captain of the Harvard University hockey team during his stay in 1983-87. After graduating from the University of Ottawa's law school, he briefly worked as an attorney at a private practice in Ottawa, Ontario. He also was a player agent before becoming an assistant General Manager for the Ottawa Senators. Then in 2006 the Bruins picked up Chi-Pet and the rest is full 60+ to history. So Bruins faithful, dig in your bear claws and don't too get attached to the players because Chiarelli is here for four more years and he's not afraid to make big moves.

Fun Facts:
-His daughter, Talia, is a member of the Canadian National Gymnastic team and trained with Alicia Sacramone and Aly Raisman.
-Also his brother, Mike, joined the Bruins organization in 2009 as a scout.

Sounds like the Chiarelli family knows how to get shit done!
